A tour via the Parc Miribel Jonage and Rilleux la Pape. The first 15km are largely on cycle lanes although one runs alongside the Autoroute in places. The 10km return into Lyon from Fontaines sur Saone is also on a cycle path giving around 25km of traffic free cycling with only one short climb.
Be aware there is a ford to cross the lake at Mirebel Jonage which can be flooded after heavy rains, particuarly in the winter months. There is a small bridge at Miribel to cross the Canal de Miribel, this is blocked for cars to the road is very quiet. At Neyron there is a zig-zag climb of about 200 vertical meters, the highlight of the route with views over the Lyon watershed. The route then goes through Rilleaux (fairly busy) then Sathonay on a country road to Fontaines sur Saone. If you cross the Saone to the right bank there is a cycle path all the way back into Lyon.
Very warm for mid March, 21C but a breeze from the North-East on the way out.
