Description

Tot and I decided to head up to Chamrousse for the closing weekend. The resort opening was largely centered around le Recoin and the Lacs Robert with some limited skiing over at la Roche Beranger due to the lack of snow. Although the resort had seen fresh only on Wednesday the layer of saharan sand seemed to have done for the end of the season. Absolutely no-one around. Good for me to restart alpine skiing after a 3 month layoff after breaking my femur.

We headed over to the lacs Robert where we skied the piste 4 times, nice soft snow as it takes the sun early. The tot skiing the off piste wall but it was too soft for me to risk an accident. We then did the Olympic Hommes. Nice firm snow until the last pitch down to the Croix cable car where things were very thin, a lot had melted in 24 hours in the heatwave. We repeated the same route but via the Niverolles red before calling it a day and skiing back to Roche Be and the car. Great value at 15 euros a ticket and we could have stayed all day.

Conditions

10C at 9.45am at the car park at 1700m. Very warm. Good refreeze but getting slushy by midday when we stopped.
